Today was likely the day everyone circled on the calendar as “hardest day,” and for good reason – the 20 mile ascent of Bighorn Pass is the hardest climb in WY, and for the vast majority of these riders it would be their biggest climb ever. We started very early as we knew this was going to be a long day. Freezing cold to start (low 40s), but you warmed up quick once the climb began. In all accounts, this was a hard climb with the middle section of roughly 3 miles at 11% average grade and the full climbing topping out at just under 10,000 feet…no joke. It was about as perfect of a day as you could hope for. Almost everyone completed the climb and the entire ride.
