Day 32: Madison to Milwaukee

After a really nice rest day in Madison, today we set out for a fairly flat and fast ride to Milwaukee. Trek Travel overhauled our bikes during the rest day and they felt smooth as butter! They also sent us off with a cheering crew. Got to ride with “the” Joe Bauer for a few miles today as well as Dave who is the Trip Designer for North America. Both were super nice guys. Huge change of pace today at lunch – grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup! We managed to dodge all the rain and by the afternoon it turned rather warm. We are staying at the Iron Horse Hotel, a very cool place which used to be a bedding factory.

We are about 2/3 of the way through our adventure. Much of the talk now has shifted from “can we do this” to “what happens after this.” We still have a long way to go, but spirits are really high and the camaraderie is off the charts.

Tomorrow we take the ferry across Lake Michigan!
