Day 15: Bozeman to Columbus

Whew, what a day! The first 50 or so miles were superb – we climbed out of Bozeman on peaceful roads surrounded by fabulous ranches and farms with stunning vistas. After cresting the climbs, we were treated to a nice tailwind so our group was making quick work of a long day. Unfortunately, the next 20ish miles were into a nasty headwind and we suffered mightily. We regrouped during lunch and came up with a better paceline strategy to deal with the winds. Luckily, the winds shifted again into more of a cross wind, so we also got to learn about echelons. The last 40 miles weren’t too bad. I think we all learned valuable lessons which will benefit us later in this grand adventure.
