Also know as Rest Day 1.5, today was a short ~45 mile, relatively flat cruise ahead of several big days to come. Quite chilly for the first 30 minutes or so, but warm by the time we got into Bozeman. Beautiful scenery and great roads. Never ceases to amaze me how many motorists dislike cyclists, even very well behaved cyclists. I’d say we average at least 1-2 “buzzes” every day and another 2-3 people who either honk or yell obscenities. SMH
About 2 miles outside Three Forks is the starting point of the Missouri River, the longest river in the US. The Madison, Gallatin, and Jefferson rivers converge to form the Missouri. Apparently, Lewis and Clark camped at the headwaters during their journey. Pretty cool spot and a place I probably would have never known about if it was for this trip. So many great places to see in this beautiful country and no better way to do it than on a bike.
Had a great coffee stop as we got into Bozeman – thanks Marty! Treeline Coffee Roasters is the bomb if you’re ever in town.
