I arrived at the train station in Jackson, MS around 11:45 AM. I collected my checked bike and two checked panniers from the baggage cart. All three were covered in, what the conductor told me was, pollen. Like a thick coat of dust. I was hoping the rains which rolled through here a little over a week ago knocked out most of the pollen, but it may be just the opposite. My eyes are already itching!

It was a quick 9 mile ride from the train station to my hotel for the night in Clinton. I’m doing a quick load of street clothes laundry, then repacking my panniers for the action part of the trip. There’s a BBQ joint right next to the hotel, so dinner’s a no-brainer. The real ride starts tomorrow. The weather forecast calls for a low of 65 and a high of 87, with a pretty stiff wind out of the south (unfortunately). Still, it’s snowing today and tomorrow in Denver, so I’m not going to complain about a little wind…well not until tomorrow anyway. 😂
